At BIF Sydney, we have been hand making our Bomboniere since 1986, customising our craft to suit every occasion.
Typically, the Bomboniere are tulle circles with 5 confetti wrapped inside, customised to client’s specifications & would normally have personalised name tags stating the Bride & Groom names & wedding date or child’s christened name & date etc.
Bomboniere (Confetti), originated in Italy around 300 - 400 years ago, when a small gift of sweets (Confetti) was given away to guests on happy occasions. Over time the idea spread to other parts of Europe & in particular to France & Greece. Bomboniere consisted of an uneven number (typically 5) of sugar-coated almonds, representing the bittersweet life of a married couple.
The five Sugared coated almonds have significant meaning – wishing the new husband & wife: health, wealth, happiness, fertility & long life. The giving of the Bomboniere is also traditional for christenings, baptisms, communions, confirmations & graduations.
